Veterans Memorial is underway at
Muskalonge Cemetery, thanks to donations
by the LeRay de Chaumont Chapter,
DAR, Watertown, NY
A huge thank you to the LeRay de Chaumont Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, for their donation to Muskalonge Cemetery today (we finally have a "red, white and blue" to honor our veterans). Last year that chapter donated the bench.

Likewise, we would like to thank the Sackets Harbor American legion for the donation of flags for each veteran's grave, and HarborSide Services for the donation of flowers for each veteran's grave.

Also, thank you for the hard work of our Friends of Muskalonge Cemetery group for their efforts and commitment these last two years restoring these hallowed grounds after the cemetery was vandalized. How beautiful it looked today when everyone arrived to prepare the grounds for the Memorial Day Services on Monday.
Thank you to each of you.

Thank you to the following people and organizations for their donations toward the restoration effort taking place at Muskalonge Cemetery: Watertown Savings Bank, Warren & Eleanor Allen, Davis Family, HarborSide Services - Websites & Marketing, Wal-Mart, Sackets Harbor American Legion, LeRay de Chaumont Chapter - Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Caryl Martin and Kurt Alverson . These contributions have allowed us to continue the restoration efforts at Muskalonge Cemetery.

In addition to cement for bases, plaque and other costs to recognize veterans buried at Muskalonge (a veterans memorial), we will also begin collecting quotes for signage, which the cemetery desperately needs.

Any financial assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated. Donations are payable to:

How many veterans are buried at Muskalonge? Research still continues, but at the present time we show seven (7) Revolutionary War patriots; eighteen (18) War of 1812 soldiers (roughly four of these 18 men were also included in our count for having served during the Revolutionary War); three (3) Civil War;  two (2) WWI; and two (2) WWII veterans. We also have one (1) veteran who did not serve during any war.
Our representative has worked diligently (having researched over several winters and coordinated a list of names with those on the www.nnygenealogy.com site ) to include known interred at Muskalonge on the Find A Grave website, at this link: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=65397.
